Apartment Review for Woodmeade Apartments - Austin, TX

Woodmeade also own Travis Park Apts, The Meadows and Oak Hollows Apartments. This place used to be owned by someone from in Austin and now it is owned by a really large corporation that owns 4 properties in Austin and from thier website, about 20 in other states. Also they claim in their ad that they "we also have 16 years of award winning management." I do not know how that statement is true because they just recently took over from the prior owner a few years back. Not 16 years ago. They must mean a different property. I think that is misleading adverstising! They raised the rent and made only small cosmetic changes. I would stick with smaller Austin based rental properties. They advertise that it is secure but the community is not gated. There is no outgoing mailbox or rent drop off due to crime and break ins. There was a motorcycle stolen and several cars broken into. The one time I did hear about any security was the enforcement of no glass bottles by the pool. The laundry room is often dirty and has had broken machines for days. They expect you to call a separate company if the washer or dryer needs fixing. Woodmeade Apts.and the Lynd company advertise "Life is all about friends and family and we are ALL family! " Do they mean a severely dysfunctional family that charges you if you have a fish or an insect'' They consider fish,spiders and INSECTS pets so if you have any of those you have to pay a pet deposit!!Plus extra if you have a cat or dog. They charge "per animal." I don't have a pet but from the lease it looks like they will charge 10$ a day plus 75$ intial fee PLUS the pet deposit if you have a unregistered FISH!! They have raised the rent and charge about 35$ a month for water on top of whatever you pay to Austin. My lease is 11 pages long so if you absolutely have to rent here I would take your lease to the free rental association company to look it over before you sign it. Woodmeade rates poorly on basically all levels.
