Apartment Review
Abusive Management
Review Date: 5/10/2010

I lived at this complex for 1 year, anticipating a really good experience, along with my other 3 roommates. Instead, we got a loud apartment that was cheaply made. During the course of our time at the Block, managemen accused our apartment of somehow vandalizing a sorority house by throwing beer cans from our balcony. The only problem was that we didn't have a balcony, and the sorority house was at least a quarter mile in the other direction. The biggest problem with this place is management, who are basically a lot of 20-something year old women that, when you put together in a room, think they have the right to bitch AT residents, the people who are paying their salaries. They took our entire deposit (many other reviews highlight this wonderful aspect) despite the cleanliness of our apartment, and charged us nearly $300 additional dollars in replacement fees. I called them to dispute the claim and I was actually yelled at by management (I never even knew that was possible). My roommates truck was broken into 3 times in their parking garage, but the Block refused to even take a modicum of responsibility for what happened. Elevators were constantly broken as well. Here's my advice to people who are moving into west-campus and looking for a place to stay: AVOID THE BLOCK. Go live at The Quarters or some private complex in the area, where management isn't combative and actually cares about residents. You will be disappointed with your stay, and will probably be writing a terrible review as well. Most of these issues could be taken care of by simply firing off most of the incompetent staff who think customer service means yelling back at residents who are frustrated with the service. Please take time to research other places, even if they aren't as shiny on the outside as the Block. And if you don't read this whole thing, then take this away from this message: Management is horrid and actually attempts to intimidate residents. Good luck with apartment hunting
