Apartment Review for The Block - Austin, TX

The first thing you are thinking is, "The Block looks so nice" BUT STOP RIGHT THERE! All the nice amenities the website boasts are not as nice as they seem. Our "stainless steel" diswasher fell out of the cabinent within one week. The ice maker in our "stainless steel" fridge doesn't even work. One of our cabinents fell off by itself. Shabby installation of everything. We were promised a flat screen TV for signing our lease early, AND DIDN'T RECEIVE IT UNTIL FOUR MONTHS AFTER WE MOVED IN. The floors in the hallways were never finished and almost every door in the building is broken. There is SOOOO much noise, not only outside noise but also from the complex's doors that slam SO loud. A bunch of cars in our "secure" parking garage were broken into. The resident services staff is a joke. There are a bunch of kids in their early 20's who are extremely rude and take forever to address your issues. The maintenance men just let themselves into your apartment, don't speak English, and are also rude. Many solicitors creep around in the hallways and bug you. DON'T LIVE AT THE BLOCK! ESPECIALLY IN APT #216!!!!
