Apartment Review for Oak Creek Apartments - Austin, TX

I ve lived at Oak Creek for a long time and up until now have found it an ok place to live. The managers change frequently (the individuals are often nice, but Ranier Management makes all of the decisions), my roof leaks, my floor is buckling, my bathroom floor has had tile missing since I moved in, the bridge is rotting and things are always being stolen out of the parking lot, but it s conveniently located, the rent used to be reasonable and it was laid back. But in the past year they ve jacked the rent up an unreasonable amount and decided to spruce the place up outside. Meaning they re painting the natural brick exterior a variety of the most awful shades of green (generally my favorite color) and cutting down all of the mature bushes and hedges that actually provided some shade in the courtyard. I come home from work one day and the area near my door is painted a green so dark that I thought it was black at first and all of the bushes that had shaded my porch and window are gone and my apartment is about 15 degrees hotter then it was the day before. And, when I try to put up a sun shade to block the sun from blasting into my apartment all day, they tell me that would interfer with the uniformity of the apartments and I have to take it down. The apartment complex is still half painted, there s garbage all over the place, there s giant holes where there used to be little trees and bushes, but my sun shade isn t classy enough for this place. I really regret renewing my lease.
