Apartment Review
Run From Denise

Best part is at the end.

I have lived here to 2 years and upon the end of my first year I decided to sign another lease because the location is so good for me and I love the ambiance. However, I signed even though I shouldn't have because the staff has no respect for the common courtesy their tenants deserve. For example I once put my trash out on the wrong day, a day early, my bad and my wrong, but I received a notice of a $150 fine. That hurt. I felt it was harsh and the punishment far exceeded the crime. They let it go after I complained. Next, move out..Manager walked through with me and gave the ok with a note saying $25 for nail holes. So they sent me a bill in the mail for, $550 to paint the garage floor for oil stains and the the repairs I was accused of doing a poor job of. Ends up they cut the repair charge off because it was their own service guys who did that poor job. by the way, my car never leaked oil and a Lexus in mint condition isn't know for leaks if you see where I'm going. Oops...we already put a nice new floor coating on too late to check. Pay up or get evicted.

This is my favorite though. I had paid my rent the week earlier on time through the on line company they sent me to and I came home to an eviction notice on Monday saying I had to be out by Wednesday and this was not a pay your rent and late fee's notice, this was a we hereby exercise our right to evict you notice. Never in my 12 years rental history have I seen a late payment handled in such disregard for the tenant. Now keep in mind I did pay my rent on time so it was brought on by their incompetence. So long story short Denise told me it was my responsibility to make sure the 3rd party paid them and it was my problem. I'm not dumb enough to make this up. I was upset, I was frustrated, but I was reserved and I never yelled at her despite this ridiculous situation. I did tell her she needed to go back to school and learn about customer consideration and courtesy. THIS IS THE SERIOUS PART---> Evidently, Denise is easily intimidated because then she said this is what happens when you don't pay your rent and if you can't discuss this in a civil manner I'm going to call the police I told her I was more than willing to discuss this in a civil manner but it was unreasonable to expect me not to be upset about it. The moment I didn't cower before her holiness, she dialed 911 as if it was an emergency. So I sat quietly for 2.5 mins while she answered the police questions saying she felt threatened. Here's the catch....if you feel threatened or uncomfortable, all you have to say is Mr X I'm going to have to ask you to leave and cool off and then come talk to my manager, You don't call 911 to prove a point in your pathetic power struggle. The great thing is that because this great mind called so early in the conversation it actually recorded me sitting quietly 3 feet from her while she was on the phone calmly answering the police questions. I'm glad she called so early because it was my saving grace simply because, after I told her this was a joke and she was a joke as well she started shaking and told me to get out. Which I did the moment she asked. So when the police arrived they took the statements and then said I was well within my legal rights to be upset and complain and that I did exactly what I should have done by leaving the moment I was asked. So they asked me talk to the manager instead. The police actually asked me to go back in and speak with the manager and they didn't arrest me or even file the complaint even with her asking them to do so. If I had actually done what I was being accused of doing, they wouldn't have blown this off. Men don't get away with anything when it comes to the law and threatening women.

So after being publicly humiliated and feeling like a criminal for paying my rent on time, I was able to prove I paid my rent on time and even have a copy of the fax they received as well as the email confirmation from the 3rd party rent collection company sent to the leasing office saying I paid on time. They didn't even check the records, they just sent the eviction notice.

A courtesy I should have been given: The option to get out of a situation before the police are called. I have a right to be asked to leave and not be criminalized for voicing my discontent with a clearly flawed system being run by incompetent people. So, the lesson learned, they will do a horrible job keeping records, over fine you every chance they get, and make you a criminal if you complain about the tyranny. You do not have the right to voice a complaint here so much that you'll have the cops called on you to embarrass you.

Summation: As nice as the property is you are still a human being and you need to be treated with at least a little respect as being so, even if you complain and get upset. You will not find that here so save yourself the abuse. I should say that the manager did apologize sincerely for the public humiliation but stay away from Denise as she is exactly what we all fear, simple, washed up in a dead end, and looking to take it out on you as a tenant because she is the all powerful ruler who peaked in high school.

How's that dead end feel now Denise? Can't silence me here can you.
