Apartment Review for Colonial Village At Quarry Oaks - Austin, TX

I've lived here for 2 years. Day 1, moving in and I notice that the carpet isn't new, in fact there are about 3 white stains, one general dirty stain in front of where couch is along with worn area in front of couch. That got me mad to say the least. But, everything else was fine except for a couple of times each year when thieves go around and smash into about 20 or so cars in one night. A relative of mine was an unfortunate victim one of those nights and he never did hear anything again from the police even though they got a full handprint off his window. Other than those 2 things, it wasn't bad for the money. Now they just raised rates, for me about 150 more, and it isn't worth it anymore, especially since my carpet is an embarrassment whenever I have guests.

Other than that though, the place has alright parking (pay extra for covered), looks ok even though I'm not a fan of their new colors, staff seems pretty good (the person who said I'd have new carpet left soon after I moved in), maintenance chick is hot and actually knows how to fix stuff ;) and it's a pretty well build place in that I could barely hear neighbors even on shared walls.

So, make sure to do a walk-through before you start unloading furniture... take pictures, and let them know they're in breach if they didn't do something they said they would as a condition to your acceptance of the lease. That and don't be surprised if one morning you see a bunch of glass all over the place as you make your way out... It might be the nearby neighborhood, be warned, don't leave too many valuable in your car just in case and hide anything enticing.
