Apartment Review for Campus Estates - Austin, TX

Now known as University Estates, this place is AWFUL. I've lived here for a year and I am counting down the days until I move out. First off, the "security" booth out front is a joke. There's never anyone in there so pretty much anyone can get in. Someone gets their car broken into at least every other night, and last night there was definitely some sort of gang throw-down right outside my apartment. I was also sitting in my room when someone tried to open my window in the middle of the day. So aside from the complete lack of security, the actual complex is very poor. Our AC has been broken for over a month (it is May right now). When we put in a work order, maintainance will arrive pretty soon after, but they'll only fix it to where it works for a few days, then it breaks again. They've come to "fix" it 4 times, and it stops working a few days after each time. The keys are another thing that really bugs me. They're card keys that deactivate ALL THE TIME. It's really a pain to have to go reactivate your key once a week just to get into your apartment. And if you lose your key, they charge you 25 bucks. It's a huge ripoff. I really don't have anything good to say about this apartment complex. I would say it was cheap rent, but they just raised the rent big time. There's no reason anyone should live here. RUN AWAY!!!
