First off, I'd like to start with the good points: in my experience, the management was friendly and professional, and, well, that's about it. I had some minor issues which were insignificant enough to overlook, such as a parking shortage (expect a good long walk from your car to your apartment door) and poorly-insulated windows and doors (my electricity bill on my 785-sq.-foot unit was close to $150/month, and I am not a wasteful person). But it was the maintenance team's poor workmanship and careless attitude that really made me decide to move out. With nearly every repair issue I reported (and sadly, there were many of them at this complex) they did a half-ass quick-fix that usually patched the problem temporarily (such as using an off-the-shelf liquid drain unclogger to unplug my sink, which I had already tried myself), or they tell me that the item is not really broken and does not warrant a repair or replacement (I was told to "run a few empty cycles through the dishwasher" when it would not dissolve the soap and the drain backed up, and was informed that if I "jiggled the handle a little bit" on the toilet, it wouldn't run water all the time). The workmanship was so poor that I couldn't trust them to fix anything properly without being there to test it out personally when they finished; the little "maintenance was here" note they'd leave on my door usually meant that they came by and fixed NOTHING (although I do have to admit, they are very prompt about responding to the requests). It got to the point where I had to take time off of work multiple times to be there when they showed up and to talk with them and insist that the repairs be made and not just be jerry-rigged to get by. Really, I am not a picky or difficult person, but if I am paying my rent on time every month then I expect a WORKING sink, toilet, and dishwasher to be included in what I am paying for. |
