| I lived at Falcon Ridge for over 2 years only for the fact that I knew I would need to leave this year and finding a new place, plus moving costs, was more trouble than it was worth. However, if I had more time two years ago, I would have never signed the lease.
I had to go in and clean everything with Clorox before we moved in because it was disgusting. Also, it doesn't do any good to fill out your "check-in" sheet because nothing on ours was ever fixed or replaced. We bought our own kitchen faucet head, stove top drip bowls, and toilet paper holders. I dealt with having a cigarette burned toilet seat for two years because it was always "on order", plus we had a water leak problem that was never determined what the cause was. I'm pretty sure they just patched it up with duck tape. Their way of cleaning the carpet from the leak was putting fans in our entry way for 4 days.
The entire place reeked of cigarette smoke when we moved in and never went away. We tried everything!
We just moved out this month and the place was in better condition than when we moved in, besides for the entry way carpet that showed wear from walking on it wet, caused by their leak. However, we were told that we had to pay to get the carpet cleaned because of pet stains and heavy traffic in all the rooms...that's funny, we never had a single pet! The apartment manager said that she smelled pets when she walked in, but that's impossible - I'm pretty sure she was smelling the old musty cigarette smell from the previous tenants! And, if there were heavy traffic stains, why wasn't it marked on our check-out list? Nothing was marked saying there were stains, and when I asked about this the reply was, "Well we are not that nit-picky when it comes to filling out that form."
I'm sorry, but if I'm just told to pay an extra charge with no evidence to back it up, that really pisses me off. There are already new tenants leasing our apartment, so I was told that if I was to call a few days earlier I could have disputed the charge...I received the letter yesterday!
So as you can see it is a "your word against mine" situation. Take my word for it, there are far better apartments in Austin for the money, and far better managements to work with! |
