I just moved in, and unfortunately my credit and rent history is such that I couldn't find many places who would accept my application. Considering my choices, this looked the best, and I've lived in rougher neighborhoods, I'm sure I can survive this, and hopefully will be out with a better rent history, and on to a better place; that said I'll tell you this; my first week here my car was broken into TWICE, the second time they took my radio and ripped the wires in my dash so that I have to take my old twenty year old car to the mechanic. The radio was broken too. When I go to the office I talk to a different person each time, the second time I went to bring my stuff as I was moving in, they couldn't find my paperwork and almost made me go through the whole application process all over again! My first day there the maintenence man promised to fix the door to my outside storage; he said he'd have it fixed by Monday. THat was almost three weeks ago now - Every morning when I wake up there is a new "abandon" (probably stolen) car in the parking lot, by the next day it's completely stripped. Neighbors tell me that they are very slow and answering maintenence complaints, thank God I haven't had one yet, those things on the 'checklist' that weren't fixed I just fixed myself, I spent about twenty dollars of my own money on the day I moved in on lightbulbs, toilet paper holder, shower curtain rod and general things like that that are usually provided, I'm used to having to buy my own curtain, but not my own rod and holder and everything. In short, I'd say this place is not kept up, not secure, the management is strict about getting your rent on time and that's it, evidently anyone can live there, including criminals, and your car won't be safe there, I seriously doubt that my things are safe in my apartment and I will have to get better locks and insurance. Now I've lived in big cities, places where I might expect this sort of thing, but this is in Austin, Texas, this has got to be one of the worst places in town. I do NOT recommend it, unless if like me no one else will rent to you - and even then I would say BE CAREFUL. |
